This is the first Encruzado beer in the world, but the choice of grape variety was not made by chance. Carlos Lucas’ experience allowed him to realize that it is well-suited to the brewing process.

Encruzado is considered the noblest grape variety of the Dão region, known for its versatility and ability to produce some of the best wines in Portugal. Carlos Lucas is a winemaker who has devoted much of his career to demonstrating Encruzado’s potential for making great wines, and he decided to explore this potential in the world of beer as well.

This profile was carefully explored during the beer creation process. The typical aromatic profile and the grape’s acidity were the elements that the team most sought to preserve, aiming to create a beer that is both serious and refreshing.

The process of harmonizing the elements of craft beer with the grape’s profile required a dialogue between winemaker and brewmaster, in order to understand the specific characteristics of the two musts and achieve a product that could proudly be called “beer.” One of the main concerns was to maintain character, body, and foam, by selecting the right base.

The result was something we are proud of—honoring both Praxis traditions and the Encruzado identity in a product that stands out.
