GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING ALTERNATIVE RESOLUTION OF CONSUMER DISPUTES
Alternative Consumer Dispute Resolution (RAL) covers the mediation, conciliation and arbitration. RAL entities are the entities authorized to carry out mediation, conciliation and arbitration of disputes of consumption in Portugal that must be registered on the list of RAL entities provided for by Law No. 144/2015.
Published on September 8 pp, Law 144/2015 approved the new legal framework for alternative resolution mechanisms (extrajudicial) of consumer disputes, creating in Portugal the Network of Consumer Arbitration and establishing a duty of information for companies suppliers of goods or service providers of the existence of Alternative resolution of existing disputes applicable to the sector where companies qualify.
The consumer should always first contact the supplier of the good or the service provider to try to resolve the problem.
